October 25, 2022
In response to grower interest in non-GMO soybean performance, F.I.R.S.T. planted four conventional soybean trials in the Minnesota South region. Legacy Seeds entered four non-GMO varieties in the trials, ranging in maturity from 1.2 to 2.5. The sweet spot was the 2.3 maturity LS231-21C variety. LS231-21C had the highest gross income average at $1000 per acre, and was second overall in average yield, 60.1 bushel per acre. The trails included three popular GMO varieties as comparisons. Trials were held near Austin, Lafayette, Lamberton, and Nerstrand.
LS231-21C is a black hilum, large seed size, non-GMO variety with a solid disease package, great standability, and yield potential. It carries PI88788 for cyst and is used in non-GMO food and feed markets.
